Local Education

Evans' student population is served by the Columbia County Public School System, an award-winning district that is comprised of 30 schools: 17 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 5 high schools, and 1 alternative school. However, students in Evans attend seven elementary schools: Bel Air, Blue Ridge, Evans, Greenbrier, Lewiston, River Ridge and Riverside; six middle schools: Columbia, Evans, Greenbrier, Lakeside, Riverside and Stallings Island; and four high schools: Evans, Greenbrier, Lakeside and Grovetown.

Nearby colleges and universities include Augusta State University, Augusta Technical College, Medical College of Georgia, University of South Carolina at Aiken, Piedmont Technical College, and Georgia College and State University, among others.


Residents of Evans have access to a number of golf courses and country clubs to better their game, whether they happen to be the next Jack Nicklaus or are just starting out. Area golf courses include Bartram Trail Golf Club next to Patriots Parks, Jones Creek Golf Club, and Westlake Country Club. Forest Hills Golf Course and Augusta National Golf Club are located within the city limits of Augusta.

Local Parks

Patriots Park and Blanchard Woods Park are located just minutes away for residents. The former includes several fields for baseball, softball, and soccer; 9 tennis courts; a gymnasium that houses 2 basketball courts and 4 racquetball courts; batting cages, an 18-hole disc golf course, a quarter-mile walking track, and picnic areas. Blanchard Woods Park features 6 soccer fields, 4 which are lighted; a walking track; and an area for future festivals and events. Many more parks can be found throughout Columbia County.

Events in Columbia County

Columbia County's Community Events department does an excellent job planning yearly events and festivals for its populace. Get-togethers such as book fairs, tree recycling, blues and jazz concerts in the amphitheatre along with Easter Egg Scrambles, family movie matinees, Fourth of July celebrations, Halloween events and Christmas tree lighting celebrations fill up residents' calendars regularly.
